Silo Series – 4 Videos from Art Omi
- Arts Residency, Video
In early August, I spent a day at Art Omi at the invitation of director Jeffrey Lependorf.
Art Omi is an arts center situated on 120 acres in New York’s Hudson Valley, featuring the Sculpture & Architecture Park, Newmark Gallery, five distinct residency programs, and arts education for all ages.
Besides interacting with musicians in residence, breaking bread, and exploring the grounds, I spent an hour in one of the two silos playing and exploring the resonance of this magical space.
The videos are not concert performances, just me alone, playing with the sounds. I don’t usually share videos with “interesting notes,” but the sonic experience deserves to be shared.
I made 4 videos:
- Barrios – Una Limosna por El Amor de Dios
- Marquina – España Cañi (paso doble) – part
- Cage – In A Landscape
- Albéniz – Asturias (Leyenda) – part
All are recorded on an iPhone 14 without special microphones, effects or post-production. Only the natural sounds of the guitar inside a silo.
Playing in this silo was just awesome.
So grateful to Art Omi for the invitation!
If you like them, please feel free to share. You can also compare the Marquina, Cage, Albéniz to my commercial recordings, which can be found on all streaming services and Bandcamp.
Thank you!
Aaron
