The globally praised classical guitarist Aaron Larget-Caplan returns with his 11th solo album, where the Spanish classical and flamenco sounds are fleshed out with an inimitable attention to form and mood.<\/p>\n

Francisco T\u00e1rrega\u2019s \u201cCapricho \u00c1rabe (Serenata)\u201d opens the listen with Larget-Caplan\u2019s finger acrobatics retaining the radiance of the original, but also delivered in his own meticulous spirit, and \u201cPanaderoes\u201d, by Esteban de Sanl\u00facar, offers dizzying progressions that are so flawless and precise it hardly seems like just one guitar is present.<\/p>\n

Further along, the dance floor ready \u201cAsturias (Leyenda)\u201d also possesses calm moments as Larget-Caplan takes the song off Isaac Alb\u00e9niz\u2019s piano and places it on his agile guitar, while Gaspar Sanz\u2019s \u201cSuite Espanola: Canarios\u201d is packed with firm, melodic gestures from the most intense piece included.<\/p>\n

Arriving closer to the end, the intimate and reflective \u201cSpanish Romance\u201d tugs on the heartstrings thanks to the sublime and expressive playing, and \u201cSonatina\u201d, by F.M. Torroba, exits with 3 chapters of cautious and absorbing musicianship that leaves a lasting impression.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re keeping score, this is Larget-Caplan\u2019s 2nd album of Spanish celebration, and it\u2019s a richly diverse and attentive performance that\u2019s profoundly technically and perfectly beautiful.<\/strong><\/p>\n
